Hi new to this forum.
I am an older person so be patient with my questions please.
I have a 17 R4 I purchased after Hurricane Harvey with intent of doing video editing. The speakers went out 2 months after the warranty was out. Now it has slowed to a crawl. I have nothing on it but software for my 3D printer. I just (today) put 2 16GB sticks of ram in the machine and now it won’t boot up.

how do I get to the set up screen and is it necessary to allow the machine to accept the ram.

I ordered DDR 4 3200mhz Corsair Vengence for the machine.

I also noticed before my tinkering that when I check the usage my HD is always 100%. I would assume that it was due to only 8GB of ram and it was using the hard drive as back up.
I plan on upgrading this as well but the memory issue just stumped me.

While I am not a computer genius , I have built most of my own towers. Never had an issue with Ram before.

Thanks in advance.

Edit to original post. Tried each one by itself in slot 1 to see if I received a bad stick of Ram. Neither worked.

Reinstalled my factory stick of 8GB and it booted right up.
My guess is this Ram I purchased is somehow not compatible.

Hello and welcome. Check out the Crucial site for memory compatibility. I'm not sure if 3200Mhz memory will work. Usually it should just downclock to a speed it's happy with but maybe it's having issues with it.

Very possible that your HDD/SSD is also on it's way out. Try running the Pre-boot diagnostic. Press F12 while the system is booting to get into the Boot Menu. You can select the Diagnostic from here.

Thanks the crucial site was very helpful. They do offer 3200Mhz but most are 2400. Now I am out 150.00 bucks.

Afraid to order more now.

thanks
