I am expecting my Alienware 17 R3 before Christmas and want to connect that to my Acer XB240H. I am looking at various options to connect these two to get the best Full HD 3D experience.
Here are my assumptions:
1) Acer XB240H supports 1920x1080 @ 144Hz only through the DVI port and not through HDMI port.
2) Alienware 17 R3 supports USB 3.1 Type C but not (mini) DisplayPort which is available in earlier versions.
I searched Amazon.com to find an adapter which could directly connect this two devices but couldn't find any. Note that I live in India and Amazon does not ship several cables to India. So my options are pretty limited.
Here is a potentially complex scenario that I could conceive with all parts that can be shipped to India
USB3.1 > DisplayPort - > DVI (dual-link)
1) VisionTek Products USB 3.1 Type C to Displayport Adapter (900817) http://amzn.com/B0157RVTDW OR USB 3.1 Type C to DP, KuGi ® high quality USB 3.1 Type C to DisplayPort DP 4K UHD External Video Graphics Adapter http://amzn.com/B00WTPBVZW
2) Accell Dual-Link Adapter http://amzn.com/B002ISVI3U or StarTech.com DisplayPort to DVI Video Adapter Converter Cable - M/M http://amzn.com/B00A493CNY
3) Cable Matters DVI-D Dual Link Cable with Ferrites 6 Feet, 100% Bare Copper http://amzn.com/B007NJ0S1W
Will this option work? I know it sound ridiculous, but given my location constraints and my limited knowledge of cables, this is the best route I could conceive.
Anyone got a better opinion?
