I don't find a thread for posting benchmark scores for the Alienware M18x, so I will start one.

If there is enough interest we can use the opening post for a leader board.

When posting Futuremark scores, please provide a hyperlink to the results along with a desktop screen shot showing:

  • Benchmark app with score
  • 3 Open CPU-Z windows showing main, motherboard and memory tabs
  • Open GPU-Z window showing main tab

Refer to the example screen shots in the following posts. I will post my own benchmark scores with a variety of system configurations in the posts that follow. Please refer to them as examples for screen shots. (I will post benchmark results for each configuration separately so they are easier to follow, versus one extremely long post.)

Feel free to post any benchmark you wish. In addition to 3DMark11, Vantage, 3DMark06, 3DMark05 other benchmark results are welcome, including but not limited to Unigine Heaven and Crysis, Crysis 2, FarCry, Just Cause 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, etc., etc.

NVIDIA GTX 580M SLI:

3DMark11: P7831
| Vantage: P27343 | 3DMark06: 23762 | 3DMark05: 28434

3DMark11: P7831

Vantage: P27343

3DMark06: 23762

3DMark05: 28434

------------------------------------
AMD HD 6990M CrossFire:

3DMark11: P8092 | Vantage: P25730

Note: I was not taking proper screen shots when I had the 2760QM CPU and 6990M CrossFire, but the results may still be useful for comparison for owners with that configuration.

3DMark11: P8092

Vantage:
P25730

Ah yes... benching with a computer sitting on your lap. Intel XM CPU, dual GPU, both overclocked. Just sitting in the living room easy chair, feet propped up on the ottoman. Mobile computing doesn't get any better than this. Thanks, Alienware.

Hmm... ad chops off right half of the video. That sucks. Maybe posting here will move the ad to this post.

Edit: yup... that worked.

Thanks, guys. I'm super happy with it. The only down side is that it makes me unhappy with everything else, including the ThinkPad that I have to use for work every day.

Still not able to say I like Windows 8, though. Every time I think its going to be good I discover something stupid about it that I do not like. I am tempted to go back to Windows 7. For example, I just discovered today that the link to manage wireless networks is gone. You cannot manually reorder network connection preferences. Everything takes longer, extra mouse clicks and layers to navigate to do things that were quick and simple in Windows 7.
