Hi Guys need some advice,

Ive got an Aurora ALX (2010) and wish to upgrade the motherboard and Chipset.

This is what I have :

Model 04VWF2 (CPU 1)
Version 00
Chipset Vendor Intel
Chipset Model X58
Chipset Revision 13
Southbridge Vendor Intel
Southbridge Model 82801JR (ICH10R)
Southbridge Revision 00

Cores 4
Threads 8
Name Intel Core i7 960
Code Name Bloomfield
Package Socket 1366 LGA
Technology 45nm
Specification Intel Core i7 CPU 960 @ 3.20GHz

Does anyone know what the best motherboard and Chipset I can get that will just fit straight in?

Ive just installed a GTX 780Ti and now need to upgrade the rest.

Your help is much appreciated

Regards

Rich

I dont have a Aurora any more but unless your going to upgrade your i7 960 which is still a top tier cpu. you will have to stay with a 1366 socket and a x58 board. Unless your going to upgrade it all like I did not really much reason to go side ways on a swap. I am sure these other fine members who have Aurora's will advise you better. and Welcome..

asus makes good stuff. best bet though go newer for better options. your cpu is strong very strong. but i just checked newegg and they only had 2 brands of mobos for 1366. im running a asus maximus v gene in my r3 with a 3770k. the mobo dropped right in. the problem is gonna be getting the command center to work. took me 2 hours to find a version that would work
