That's not even necessary. Laptops HDDs are 2.5" by default, so any SSD would fit.

Why!? Why to spend so much money as you don't need SSD for the rest of your junk. System, programs, games... sure! But 1tb?
Just buy 256gb SSD and put this 720GB as 2nd drive http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Univer-SATA-2nd-HDD-SSD-caddy-adapter-for-Laptops-9-5mm-Optical-Hard-Drive-Bay-T-/321721218927?hash=item4ae814376f:g:u-IAAOSwcwhVJ89j
For the last 2 years I was running my system like that and only once had a need to use a DVD... so get a pendrive, go to another computer and do whatever you need to do.

I don't use them at all... They are very limited (size), slow, noisy... Compare it to USB 3.0 256GB pendrive :p
Anyway. It's all about what you need. I had a notebook 10" without an optical drive and it was fine. You can always get external one for USB. I have one... it's gathering dust somewhere...
Good idea is mSATA, I got one but it's only 32GB. Way too small for System and programs, for me anyway.
