Game Patches (STABLE): http://www.arma2.com/supply/game-updates

Game Patches (BETA): http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php (for DayZ)

DayZ Mod files: http://uk1.dayz.nu/latest/ (for manual install)

For a clean, error free install of the DayZ mod I suggest doing it manual vs using Six Launcher or something similar. Manual install has had less errors from what I read on the forums.

  1. Make sure your Arma 2 is updated with the latest stable patch. (Run the game at least once so the ARMA 2 folder is created in your Documents folder)
  2. Install the latest Beta Patch. Then go to your Arma 2 game directory (EX: C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2) and move the new "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch" shortcut to your desktop. It has the same icon as Arma 2 Combined Ops
  3. Create a folder called @DayZ inside your My Documents -> Arma 2 folder. EX: C:\Users\Tommy\Documents\ArmA 2
  4. Create a folder called addons inside of the @Dayz folder you just created.
  5. Put all the DayZ files you downloaded (unzipped of course - and just the files inside of the DayZ-x.x.x.x folder) inside of the addons folder you just created. (15 files total)
  6. Now launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch, go to expansions and enable the DayZ mod. Restart game, then exit game.
  7. To be on the safe side, reboot your PC, then launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch and you should be able to play DayZ online. Just pick a server and go!

I read that the manual install is more preferred on the DayZ forum even though the DayZ site recommends it, there is too much bloat with six. Patching DayZ it just copy and replace files in a folder. And the Arma patches are self extractor exes. I didn't like having to install 3rd party software just to install other software/mods. Drag and drop here! Manual lets you find multiplayer also right through the normal Arma interface too.

True tommy true but me being a skilled computer whizz :p the control panel/uninstall feature is a godsend to get rid of that nasty third party stuff.
