Ok, so I'm new here so hello. I'm normally a Mac user, but decided to get back into PC gaming and leave the PS3 for netflix. lol. It was getting bad specially when I saw how bad the butchered Skyrim just so it would run on on the console.

One thing I noticed around here is that there isn't many Aurora R4 owners. Now I'm hoping that it's because they are fairly new and not because they're just not that good. I do like mine although in my opinion it has some flaws but cooling is not one of them like I see around as the main concern. Mine has no cooling issues running in auto. At least not that I can consider it as an issue.

My rig:

Aurora R4 ALX (2012)
Intel i7 3820 oc 4.1Gz
8GB RAM
2xHDD 1TB RAID 0 (looking to upgrade to SSD for the OS only though)
Initially I had a Radeon HD 6870 Crossfire but decided that AMD wasn't doing it for me so I switched to NVIDIA and now I have a GTX 570 SLI.

Ok so here's a new Aurora owner, please feel free to ask about it or make suggestions, I do like to tinker and mod even if it doesn't need it, lol. Have a great one. KoldFeit out!

I like the Aurora's. But have always wanted the M17x. And so I got one. Maybe when I save up some more money, then I will get an Aurora.

I would love an ALX but since I only spend half the year at home I'm not sure if its worth it for me. Next year its either, rip up the carpet and get the floor boards done through my house or get the ALX! Tough decision.

Hope you enjoy yours!

Hey, new to the forums as I just purchased a new Alienware for the first time, what do you think about my specs, any recommendations?

Aurora R4
i7 3820 @ 4 ghz
8 gb ddr3 ram
gtx 560 ti oc to 1000 mhz
1 tb HD
2 x dell u2412m 24" monitors

mainly going to be using it to play D3, BF3, Skyrim, and SC2, any advice to get the maximum performance out of the system?

Welcome! Man, that is one awesome setup! Jealous. Gotta love that 690!! Did I say I'm jealous? Why would you ever want to leave the house?

Mate I am getting 37 - 42 fps in ARMA 2 when I play around with the settings in EVGA Precision.
Very playable!

I guess this just shows that Arma 2 relies more on CPU because my last system had an EVGA GTX 580 3GB card and a i7-2600K oc'ed to 4.1ghz, I was getting 52-54 in two of the benchmarks, and 35-37 in the one benchmark.

I was running an SSD and playing on a 30" monitor running 2560x1600 res.

I also did not have my Arma settings maxed out either. Most high detail and my view distance was bumped down a little.

I think I will go with the GTX 680 and use the extra $500 for cooling and SSD. I bet on games that rely more on the GPU the 690 will shine!

The GTX 680 is still a great card, and I think going for extra cooling and SSD instead of a 690 is smart move.

I will splash out soon on a SSD - I already have the CPU and enough RAM...

My screen settings are 5670 x 1080 and after a bit more playing around I got low 50s on average of three tests in ARMA2 benchmark test 1.

I am still working out the best settings for my system (o/c and GPU settings) I will post my best scores etc soon.
