Hi I would just like to confirm if my M17 R4 laptop can be fitted with 1866mhz ram. I'm sure when configuring my laptop it did have the option to upgrade to 1866mhz ram but I'm not 100℅ sure. I'm wanting to upgrade 16gb corsair vengeance ram hopefully 1866mhz if compatible or 1600mhz if that's what I have to use. So your input on compatibility would be greatly appreciated any advice will be greatly appreciated thanks all

There will be absolutely no difference going to 1866mhz. I oc my ram on my custom built rig from 1600mhz to 2200mhz @9-9-9-18 1t and only saw my min fps get raised just a bit on some games and benches. It's useless unless you vid edit and other crap like that.

Thanks for the input. So I take it updating to corsair vengeance ram isn't going to make much difference either unless my other ram failed and I had to buy new ram anyway

Ram speeds above 1600mhz are barely perceivable. I'd go with the same frequency as you have now, what helps along the way is simply having more of the ram not so much faster. Mind I've never had more than 12GB of ram in any of my machines and have never exceeded 50% of the capacity at any time.
I have no idea what you plan to do so disregard me if my opinion isn't applicable.

I just noticed everyone seems to be using corsair vengance ram and thought their must be some reason from changing from standard dell ram but if their is no performance boost I will stick with what I have and save cash for something else Thanks for info
