How to turn off turbo boost the easy way.

Feb 25, 2012
So, I've noticed that Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 tends to keep the processor "boosted" a lot. More than I think is necessary really. So I figured that Turbo Boost activates when your CPU is at 100% power and feels it could use more. And unless your doing something that really needs the boost then all you're doing is creating unnecessary heat.

So, to turn it off without going into the BIOS and whatnot simply go to your Command Center, or powerplan settings if you aren't using an AW, and set the maximum processor state at 99%. Turbo Boost won't activate because you aren't at 100% and you are still getting a lot of power right under the normal clock frequency.

If you already knew this then good. I just thought I would share for those who didn't.
