Hey all,

Loving my M18X that I got in February so far, with the small exception of one thing I can't figure out for the life of me. And I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on it, because I'm pulling my hair out and I've Googled until I can't Google no more.

I'm using the HDMI out to try and capture game footage. Here's the diagram:

7970 -> HDMI out -> Elgato Game Capture HD -> 2 simultaneous connections: 1) HDMI out to Sony 24" LiED TV 2) USB connection to my iMac to capture the video.

Now, I had it working just fine about a week ago or so. Now all of a sudden, when I connect the HDMI cable to the Alienware, both displays automatically default to 640x480 and lock out other resolutions. If I try connecting the Alienware directly to the Sony, I get no picture at all.

Here are the specs for the 7970:

Driver Packaging Version 9.012-121219a-151587C-ATI
Catalyst Version 13.1
Provider Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1278
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version 9.14.10.0945
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.12002
Catalyst Control Center Version 2012.1219.1521.27485
AMD Audio Driver Version 7.12.0.7712

Any thoughts what could be causing this issue? Thanks!

I had it working since the last time I posted here, but once I had to reboot the computer for Windows upgrades, it happened again. I don't have the latest Catalyst drivers for fear it might mess things up more. Thanks for responding! :)

Hmm sometimes it's the HDMI cable. Try using another HDMI cable and see if it helps.
