trying ,to see if the pc3-8500s ram in my laptop, could be switched with ddr3 1600, to upgrade my ram size,
I currently have 2-2gb sticks, in my machine, I have a 8gb ddr3 stick, hoping to upgrade to.

I think that's the 1066Mhz memory. You could possible use 1600Mhz but it may downclock. It depends what machine you have and what is compatible.
Many of the older machines that took 1066 aren't compatible with 8gb sticks.
