I own an Alienware x51 not sure which revision but, it has an intel core i3-3220, a GT 640, and 6gb of ddr3 ram. Now I want to upgrade a little since it isn't able to run some games due to lack of ram and graphics horsepower. So I'm getting a GTX 1050 and want 8gb of ram but I'm not sure what specifications the ram must be e.g 1600mhz or 800 and 240pin or 288. Any help would be great

I believe you have R1 version with 6GB DDR3-1600 RAM. You could also check in the BIOS or just take the ram out that is in there now and look at the specs on the sticker.

Does the amount of pins matter? If it does do you have any idea how many this has or how I find out
