I have a brand new M15 R3. I have installed all windows updates, and all Alienware updates.
I have a Samsung T5 500GB external drive that works fine when I connect it to the laptop via the USB ports, but when I connect it via Thunderbolt 3 port, nothing happens.
There are no pop up messages and it does not show up in Disk Manager.
Other things I have tried:
  • Installed the Samsung Portable SSD software, and it also does not recognize the drive when connected via thunderbolt 3/USB c
  • Installed Dell Thunderbolt3 Controller software
  • Installed Samsung Magician, but that appears to only be for internal SSDs and not external ones.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

*BUMP*
I was able to plug in a cfast 2.0 card reader into the thunderbolt 3 port and it worked fine. The Samsung T5 still is not recognized in the port thunderbolt port, only the USB port (different cables, obviously, and I've tried multiple USBc cables with the drive, too). Any ideas??
