Is it all that necassary to update Firmware for SSD's if I am not having any problems with my current version?

Corsair have brought out a new one for my series of SSD in the past few days and I am trying to decide whether or not to update it. I have heard that it can have bad results at times. I like to have everything up to date. I have never done an SSD Firmware update before.

There is an old saying 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.
If you are happy with the speeds and your SSD is stable then stay put.
I have read stuff that you can risk data corruption. So maybe make a back up.
If you do update let's know as I have seen the same firmware upgrade

I have done a backup anyway but I am yet to press the "Download' button for the update. I have saved a copy of an SSD benchmark and I was keen to see if that changed after a Firmware update.

Oh.........I don't know.............maybe brick my drive........ :(

I like not knowing what may happen though. Then I feel pretty good if it all works out well.

Do you have to re-install or recover a disk image to the SSD after the update?

Well Corsair say that the update should be non-destructive so if all goes well, I shouldn't need any reinstallation.
