Hi, i'm new here - i bouth my Alienwere yesterday.. :) I used before Sony Vaio 17", but it's like a toy when neer there is my new(4 me) Alienware x17m R2.

The question is:
- can i upgrade my 8Gb RAM to 16Gb?
- can i upgrade my CPU: i7-740QM to i7-3630QM?
- I also will change the 2x500Gb HDD to: 60GB SSD(maybe bigger) + 1TB HDD

What can i do better 4 my brand new gamer notebook....?

I'm sorry for my bad english, but I hope you will understand it well.

Regards,
panda

Welcome.
16GB ram should be no problem. I seen it work for others.
Not sure about the CPU. Maybe someone can chime in on that one.
Samsung 850 Pro and EVOs prices have come down. You can get 128GB - 512GB at a good price.

OK, any suggestions before I buy memories? (just 1333MHz?) Is it good idea to buy memories with radiators on it? I know it's notebook and too much space there isn't but....?? Now I have installed: "Samsung 2x4GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 10600S - 09 10 F2" - should i buy the same mem's just 2x8GB or looking for something else?

I write to Intel about CPU, maybe there can help me.

Thanks SWAT,
Regards.

Hello again,

I have a few questions, hdd is not my problem for today.

I still think about 2x 8Gb memories - which I should buy? (company, latency, etc).

Now I have problem with graphics? When I connect my alien to TV and run BF Hardline I get blue screen every time.. But I think that I solve this problem when I change my graphics. And here is the second question, what's better, one graphic card or two card's? What card can be mounted on my R2? I think just from side the energy.

Finally, is it possible to mount newest motherboard, for example from m17x R4? Because the R2 have the best look.

2017-01-17_020147.png I have mine like that but any faster card you put in even if is just stand alone card it will be bottlenecked by the mainboard as alienware split the pci-x 16 down to 2x pci-x 8 to achieve crossfire or sli on the R2. not a good news but it is like that Even with just one card installed you cannot expect the full speed. Unfortunately with the GPU updated the system takes almost 2 minutes to boot. even from a Sandisk Ultra II 240 SSD
