Why Windows Blue heralds the death of the desktop

I just upgraded to Windows 8.. it took some tweaking but you'd never know I had upgraded from appearance alone. With Star8, I was able to configure Windows to login directly to my Desktop. I have a Start button. I rarely see the Metro UI unless I go to the app store or run MetroTweet.

Now, with Blue, that will be a different story. Luckily Star8 is only $4.99 since it will be rendered useless. But, I also read that the taskbar will become more functional on the Metro UI which is good enough for me as I am a minimalist and prefer to pin my commonly used apps on the taskbar. :)

I miss XP. I had the opportunity to go for Windows 8 on my R4 but kindly declined.

Windows XP was used for over a decade because the next OS after it was a failure. Looks like the same thing is going to happen with 7.
