So it looks like you’ll need TPM 2.0 support in order to install Windows 11, something my R2 doesn’t have. What with support for Windows 10 ending on the 14th Oct 2025, is this the beginning of the end for the X51?

It's still over 4 years away and who knows what will happen with Windows 11 in that time. Some people seem to be too eager to just jump to Win11 straight away for no real benefit when Win10 does just fine. There's no reason to throw older machines in the trash at this stage.

11 does look great only had it around a week. Still need to get under hood properly

I think the TPM requirment my my my be turmed down, or there will be TPM on a stick or alike who knows

The problem is Area 51 are hard core so upgrade of MD is exspensive just for a Rr4/5 MD £400+ just of TPM via CPU !

Wait an see

My X51 R2 has a 14 Pin LPC connector next to the X16 video slot almost dead center. The issue is likely not TPM but rather UEFI Bios class 2.3.1 with secure boot. The R3 has this but R1 and R2 don't. So If you have windows 10 now like I do I recommend installing Ubuntu 20.04.2 alongside windows and install WINE and Dotnet 2.0 3.5 SP1 visual C++ 2010 X86 and Directx June 2010. That way if windows 11 wont work you have an os that will continue to run and work with games etc.
