Unless it's a aio water cooler, then no your gonna hurt more them help. The original cpu cooler is specially designed for the x51, people have tried and temps have shot through the roof.

Sway is right those coolers in general don't cool that well. Why are you wanting to replace your stock cooler? Are you overclocking?

Cant overclock the x51s.... locked down :(

But, the stock cooler is pretty much as good as it gets short of cutting up the chassis.

well, i notice that even at idle, my cpu temp is around 50 to 55 C. that's why i kinda wants to find a better cooler. or is this temps expected of the x51? if yes then i shouldn't worry anymore.

Mine ran between 47-50c at idle with the stock cooler and new thermal paste.
When I water cooled it, i saw pretty much the same temps... but my water cooler is only a 40mm X 80mm radiator, so its pretty small.

Im actually swapping out my water cooler for the stock heatsink soon.

I actually just changed the thermal paste 2 weeks, before that it ran around 60 C.
